The research preview launched April 15. General availability rolls out over the coming weeks, with six new workflows including Sheets AI and Canva Code 2.0.

Key details:
Users describe a goal and Claude builds a full interactive design. They can comment inline, edit text directly, or use sliders to adjust spacing, color, and layout in real time.
Brilliant says its most complex pages went from 20+ prompts in other tools to just 2 in Claude Design. Datadog says a full week of review cycles now fits in one conversation.
Canva's newsroom confirmed it is a launch partner. Designs export from Claude Design directly into Canva as fully editable, collaborative files, suggesting Claude Design is a creation layer, not a standalone product.
The research preview launched April 17 for Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers. It runs on existing subscription limits, with extra usage available as an add-on.
Why it matters: Claude Design is built for people who can write but can't design. Founders, PMs, and marketers can go from a rough idea to a shareable prototype in minutes. No design system needed, no agency required. It's also hard to miss the timing. Anthropic's CPO left Figma's board last week just as this launched, according to TechCrunch. Claude Design isn't a side project. It's a competitive move.
